Errin Kimball, one of Canada’s leading explorationists, is responsible for the discovery of more than 10 billion barrels of bitumen in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. To his impeccable oil sands credentials, Mr Kimball has added heavy oil exploration and development, and oil sands, heavy oil and water recovery and treatment technologies.
Until joining Western Canadian Oil Sands, Mr Kimball was Vice President, Exploration of Oilsands Quest Inc., which made Saskatchewan’s first major oil sands discovery and is now preparing for Saskatchewan’s first oil sands development project. A member of the founding management team of Oilsands Quest, he led the team that proved the extension of viable Athabasca oil sands resources into Saskatchewan.
Prior to joining Oilsands Quest in 2005, Mr Kimball was Chief Geologist at Synenco Energy, where his team was credited with the discovery of 2.4 billion barrels of bitumen in the northeastern Athabasca oil sands region. A well-rounded explorationist, he was also part of the exploration team that discovered the world-class Diavik mine, which is now Canada’s largest diamond producer.
Mr Kimball is a graduate of the Mineral Exploration Technology program at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and earned a B.Sc. with a Specialization in Geology at the University of Alberta.
